Hey guys! I’ve been making the local talk show rounds lately and was very lucky to be a guest on Today in Nashville yesterday.
When I first started thinking about my latest book Word of Mouth: More Conversations it was because of two reasons: my photographer and partner-in-crime Ron Manville, whose work and character I greatly admire, and a very strong feeling that I had more to discover about the city of Nashville. I felt in my heart that I had only scratched the surface of my adopted hometown by means of my first book, Word of Mouth: Nashville Conversations, which primarily features conversations with creatives and small business owners. Once I explained this to Ron, we spent the next few months hashing out how we wanted the book to look and who we felt were some of Nashville’s key institutional leaders, community organizers, activists, entrepreneurs, and provocateurs. What I came to realize halfway through the process was that my true intention is to cross-pollinate different communities in my book. I wanted to curate a collection of conversations with people of different backgrounds with similar outlooks on life. What I discovered throughout the two years that it took to assembly my second book is that, at our core, we aren’t that different from one another. Most of us want to wake up feeling fulfilled, make a positive impact on our planet, and hopefully, learn some valuable lessons along the way. I hope this book encourages readers to reach out for guidance, be unafraid to ask questions (no matter how silly they seem,) and seek out mentors who can guide you along the way.
Thank you for all of your incredible support! Word of Mouth: More Conversations now available here.
